MAGIC MEN LIVE
@ THE DMH - TORONTO
Wow, ok…Where do I even begin to explain this Magic Men Live experience. When I read the media request, for sure I would see if anyone was avail to cover them, but also hoped I could make it myself! So glad I did, it was thoroughly entertaining and am so thankful that photographer was able to come out and help me shoot! These shots are pretty stellar, especially for the minimal amount of time she had to shoot. Most people don’t realize how fast paced covering as set or event is, if you don’t have full show access it’s usually the standard first three songs no flash. Sometimes, at smaller venues the lighting is atrocious so you have to get creative if the media rules are no flash.
The male review took place at The Danforth Music Hall, it always makes me feel nostalgic for my childhood when I'm here. Growing up around these parts of the Danforth where we Greeks grow to open future restaurants. Greenwood and Sammon Ave, Pape Ave those were my old streets and blocks. I was so tempted to wander down the street to Messini or Alexandros' to grab a gyro, but really didn't want to smell like tzatziki for two hours. Back in the early 2000's my Father co-owned a cafe bar around the corner from Alexandros' situated beside Christina's at 494 Danforth to be exact, it was called "Moonlite Cafe". Now, its actually The Friendly Greek. Over the years it was many other cuisines like Chinese Dim Sum and Mediterranean.
Like the many women there, I have never been to one of these male revues. Have been invited to a few of the Toronto butter faced, wannabe Magic Men crews but these guys are the definitely top notch. Majority of the crowd was female, young and old, every colour of the rainbow, I counted ten men other than the ones on stage. Did not know what to expect as I sat beside one of the groups of Bachelorette party goers. They were excited to see what was about to unfold, I was hoping not to get any uninvited shlongs dangling near my face as the guys skipped up and down the isle looking for the thirstiest chicks in the crowd. The bride to be had no idea she was going to a male review, her friends surprised her. That was nice of them, the Magic Men Live experience was actually classier than expected, not as raunchy as I would have imagined and there wasn’t full nudity. A lot of plump plumber bums that many of the ladies in the audience got a chance to get up close and personal with. The fellas of Magic Men Live were very hands on an let the ladies get just as handsy.
They had various themes, with lots of "costume " changes, like the MJ Thriller jacket theme as seen above in a shot from my phone. The show began with a count down on a screen and then host Myles came on stage to warm up the crowd he did a great job hyping up the audience and being explicitly witty. I laughed when he said "Sadly, two men won't be at the show tonight...Your husbands and boyfriends!". That broke the ice and gave the crowd the okay to loosen up, "What ever happens at Magic Men stays at Magic Men". If the DMH's walls could talk, not only would it speak of the great music but now this unique event with so many perfect abs.
When the "Rain Men" and their umbrellas hit the stage the crowds scream was like nothing I've heard before, it was louder than any concert I have been to thus far and these guys weren't even singers. If they could sing, that would be the ultimate boy band, majority of them can dance amazingly. My favourites were the Navy boys as seen topless, abs out in my cell phone shot above. I have always had a thing for men in uniform, 95% of my boyfriends have been some type of village person ha ha! There's A the Firefighter, I don’t know why, but Firefighters will always have a special place in my heart! M and J (Cops), W the Security Guard and J the Hockey Player. I always seem to encounter hot boys in uniforms, I also like men in suits lol. Enough about my preferred taste in men, don’t think I would date any of these guys, as hot as they are, even Mr. Grey. Yes, Mr. Grey, we’re not talking about the movie guy, oh no, this one is live action and he put on a very fine performance. There was a volunteer on stage and Mr. Grey “danced” with her. First, in front of the audience and then finished off behind a red screen that only showed their silhouettes in action.
There was literally something for everyone who is into well built males with abs for days dancing on stage and on you! I will definitely go see one of their shows again, when I'm not working...Huge thanks to the Strut femmes for the invite! During the Magic Men's first trip to Toronto they captivated, heated up and definitely melted the audience. Those of you who are curious, just do it! What do you have to lose except a really fun time? If you want to have an incredible experience like none other, go see the Magic Men Live on tour in a city near you.
