We don't know about you but we are extremely excited for The ROCKSTAR DISRUPT FESTIVAL!! The new music festival experience, is just about to rock across North America and Toronto's date with Thrice, The Used, Circa Survive, Atreyu and more is on Wednesday, July 3rd 2019. We decided to add a little artist spotlight on a few of the bands that will be bringing the music to our ears at Budweiser stage.
If you had told The Used back at the turn of the millennium that we’d still be talking about their self-titled debut 15 years later, there’s no way they’ would have believed it. The scrappy foursome from Orem, Utah, recorded this album as bored teenagers living in an oppressive environment who had no idea that songs like “The Taste Of Ink” and “A Box Full Of Sharp Objects” would become the unexpected face of a new generation of youth culture. However what’s maybe more impressive is the way The Used have been able to prevail for a decade-and-a-half. Their upcoming reimagined acoustic album recorded live with a full orchestra is a perfect example of the ever-lasting nature of the band’s music.
Thrice is an American rock band from Irvine, California, formed in 1998. The group was founded by guitarist/vocalist Dustin Kensrue and guitarist Teppei Teranishi while they were in high school. Early in their career, the band was known for fast, hard music based in heavily distorted guitars, prominent lead guitar lines, and frequent changes in complex time signatures.
This style is exemplified on their second album, The Illusion of Safety (2002) and their third album The Artist in the Ambulance (2003). Their fourth album Vheissu (2005) made significant changes by incorporating electronic beats, keyboards, and a more experimental sound. In 2007 and 2008, Thrice released The Alchemy Index, consisting of two studio albums that together make a four-part, 24-song cycle. Thrice announced a final tour and an imminent hiatus. Kensrue and Teranishi decided to reform the band in 2015. In 2016, Thrice released their first post-reunion album, To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere. The band's tenth album, Palms, was released in 2018. Each album released by Thrice has had a portion of its sales proceeds donated to a new charitable organization.
Circa Survive is an American rock band from the Philadelphia suburb of Doylestown, formed in 2004. Circa Survive quickly made a name for themselves in the indie music scene in little over two years with their 2005 debut album, Juturna, and second album, On Letting Go, released in 2007. Both albums were released on Equal Vision Records. Their third album, Blue Sky Noise, was released via Atlantic Records in 2010, to critical acclaim. After parting ways with Atlantic Records, the band's fourth album, Violent Waves, was released independently in 2012. Their fifth album, Descensus, was released by Sumerian Records in 2014, and their sixth, The Amulet, with Hopeless Records in October 2017
Originally named Retribution, they changed their name to "Atreyu" after the character of the same name from Michael Ende's fantasy book The Neverending Story. The name change came because of a change of members and progressive musical styling.[1] In 1998, Atreyu released an independent seven-track EP titled Visions. The album was sold at their live performances. Their second release, was a short five-track EP titled Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty released by underground label Tribunal Records and featured tracks that would be re-worked for later releases. Atreyu signed with Victory Records in 2001, and their most critically acclaimed works would be to come from these releases.
